Swine Flu

Having recently been to Texas, and San Antonio in particular, we are glad to have gotten in and out before the outbreak of Swine Flu. However, I am of "two minds" on the subject of the flu. Would it not be a good idea to be infected, have the flu, let it run its course - which is so far pretty mild in the US - and then enjoy the immunity to further infections it would provide. The other mind is of course to carefully avoid any known contact. That one is easy for I know no one with the disease - nor anyone who has been to Mexico or any other 'infected' locale.

Busy Vacation prep...

So the days are dwindling down and departure time arrives Saturday a.m. Busy trying to get clothes ready to go and the house ready to leave. Thankfully we have a great house/dog sitter which allows us a more worry-free time away. It won't be a long vacation but we're making the most of the week we have by flying to Austin instead of driving. Cost is about the same considering motels and meals on the road. Most of our time will be spent in Lampasas with Bill's sister Shirley. Our last 2 days will be in San Antonio so we can see - for the first time - the River Walk and the Alamo. I will have pictures to post when we return.

Long enough of a break here...

Bill's Subaru Justys

Just wanted to get this picture of Bill with his two Subaru Justys on the blog. It has been a fun project for him to get them both running. The old Subaru Brat he has been using for several years to get back and forth to the bus barn has finally 'given up the ghost' making a replacement a necessity. Now he has two!

March - out like a lion...

We had been having such lovely spring like weather until a couple of storm systems just had to move through to prove the old saying, "In like a lamb, out like a lion"! Much of the fruit has been lost due to temps down to 14 degrees here. So now we'll really appreciate the warm sunshine that is undoubtedly around the corner for us.

But here is an interesting one... my Christmas cactus is blooming. Started mid March and has a variety of stages on it now from tiny bud to full blooms. I don't really care what they call it or when it blooms they are beautiful. Next a close up of one bloom, which is blurry from being a little out of focus.
